Quincy Jones, Christiana Figueres and Paul Polman
are talking about SDG ways to Happiness

New York, USA, Monday 20 March 2017
 — In conjunction with the UN International Day of Happiness on March 20, 2017, United in Diversity (UID) in collaboration with Sustainable Development Solutions Network and the Business Commission of Sustainable Development is launching the SDG Pyramid to Happiness (website www.sdgpyramid.org) and Playcards  to promote the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The SDG Pyramid or Happiness Pyramid is a framework based on the Balinese philosophy Tri Hita Karana, referring to the Three Ways to Happiness. The three ways are harmony of people with people, people with nature; people and the spiritual.

The first ten goals (SDG 1 to 10) address humanitarian, inclusiveness, social or People issues, the next five goals (SDG 11 to 15) on sustainability, climate change and nature relate to Ecological harmony. The final goals on peace and partnership (SDG 16 to 17) resonate with Spiritual values.

They elegantly map these 3 key harmonies that are pivotal in determining true sustainability or the fundamental individual happiness. Amazingly, other ancient cultures and faiths from Chinese, Hindu, Islam and Greek share a similar philosophy of these harmonies. The SDG pyramid is a beautiful reflection of aspirations to happiness through the social, ecological and spiritual realm that will universally guide mankind.

The SDG Pyramid has been endorsed by influential figures such as Christiana Figueres, Former Executive Secretary of the UN framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Convenor of Mission 2020, Quincy Jones, Celebrated Record Producer, Composer and Musician, and Paul Polman, CEO of Unilever and Chairman of World Business Council for Sustainable Development and many others launched on 20 March 2017.

To create and promote awareness of SDGs and to internalize these goals to the world through the three harmonies, a fun play card game has been created. The game engages adults and children to learn about the 17 goals in a fun and interactive way.

Indonesian Minister of National Planning Bambang Brodjonegoro attended the Happy Day Happy Play Rally in Jakarta with over 1000 people to celebrate the launch: “The Indonesian government is fully committed to the Sustainable Development Goals.. I am delighted to join United in Diversity foundation and UN SDSN Indonesia to launch the “SDG Pyramid to Happiness” awareness campaign.
